Merino acquired the business in 2015 in an MBO. One For Fun has a strong reputation for offering exciting and innovative products across its channels.
3 Bolt Ons
One For Fun has completed 3 acquisitions under Merino’s ownership. This included H Grossman, the biggest toy company in Scotland and Kit for Kids, an education focused distributor. One For Fun also has a presence in Hong Kong, France and Scandinavia.
The business journey
Merino supports the MBO of Tobar in December 2015. It was the first acquisition of the new Merino fund.
Tobar acquires the assets of Bluw Limited from the administration of Litebulb Group. This increased Tobar’s gift range, including the highly popular Silly Socks. Tobar also brought on the Head of Design to develop more exclusive products.
Tobar acquires the largest toy wholesaler in Scotland, H Grossman, from the founder. H Grossman brings with it a complementary product range and customer base, along with a well resourced sales office in Hong Kong.
Tobar acquires the education wholesale division of Kit for Kids in March 2019 – being Tobar’s first entry in to the Education focused distribution channel
Tobar rebrands as One For Fun in January 2022 as part of its consolidation of H Grossman
